SAFEGUARD YOUR CAR FROM BEING DAMAGED BY HIGH TEMPERATURES

SAFEGUARD YOUR CAR FROM BEING DAMAGED BY HIGH TEMPERATURES

There’s no doubt about it. Hot summer weather is tough on vehicles. The harsh summer temperatures of southern Arizona can be even more damaging unless drivers take precautions. In addition to making sure that your engine doesn’t overheat, you should also make an effort to protect your vehicle’s interior and exterior from the damaging rays of the sun.

Here are some tips for protecting your vehicle this summer:

  • Paint oxidizes in the sun, so if at all possible, park in a garage or carport. The more you can keep your car in the shade, the better off it will be. The UV rays of the sun are very damaging to exterior paint.

  • Regularly wash your vehicle and wax it using a polish with UV protection. Not only will your car look better, but your paint job will last longer too.

  • If you have to park in a sunny area, use a sunshade to guard your dashboard and keep your car’s interior cooler. The fact is, without protection, the interior surfaces of a vehicle will crack and deteriorate over time. By preventing sunlight from entering through your windshield, you will help to mitigate fading, drying, and cracking inside your vehicle. Plus, by keeping the interior cooler while you are parked, you will be more comfortable when you get into your car.

  • Keeping your windows cracked an inch or two will also help to keep your car cooler by creating enough space to vent the hot air.

  • Be sure to test your battery regularly and keep the top of it clean, because the heat of summer will drain the life from it by causing excessive fluid evaporation.

  • As temperatures climb, so does the pressure in your tires. Be sure to check your tire pressure regularly and inspect tires for any dry rot, large bumps in the sidewalls, or any uneven wear. Once the weather heats up, small problems can quickly develop into a flat tire or blowout.

Protecting your vehicle from the harsh temperatures of summer will help it to last longer. If you live in the Tucson area and want the best in service and repair for your German automobile, contact European Auto Tech today.
